Your Concierge in Santiago

No more buses.  No more name tags.  No more waiting for the others to finish in the gift shop you never wanted to go in anyway.  No more time limits when you’re trying to soak in the environment.  No more tour itineraries – YOU are the boss, whether you are 2 or 20.

Chip Travel operates custom, private tours in the Central Valley of Chile.  For your time in and around Santiago, we will be your local concierge showing you the best there is to offer in the cosmopolitan capital of Santiago, the fruits of Chile’s famous wine valleys, the enchantment of Valparaiso, the beauty of Viña del Mar’s white sand beach and much more.  The agenda and time table are entirely up to you, and last minute adjustments are not only welcome but recommended as you fall in love with different aspects of Chile’s culture, history and natural environment.  We can do separate daily trips or be your guide throughout your stay in Santiago, for example helping organize your free time such as dinners in the places locals eat, not just those in the guide books or where your hotel concierge’s cousin works.

Please contact us with your travel plans to Chile and what you’d like to experience during your time around Santiago and we can work on giving you the best experience with all that Chile has to offer.  If you just have a flight and no idea where to start once you are here, we can suggest some plans according to your tastes.

"We had a great time in Chile, and our tour guide, Mac, was phenomenal from the time we inquired online about the tour from the states, until he dropped us off for our dinner after the tour.   We were able to learn about such a beautiful place from someone who speaks English, but at the same time has a love for the history and culture of the country.  It was so nice to get off the beaten tourist path and know we were safe.  We were able to take a second look at something or spend a little more time at something else without holding anyone up.  Mac was full of facts and tidbits you don’t find on your own.  We didn’t have to rely on guidebooks or “paid” reviews from others, and Mac’s recommendations were tremendous, from restaurants to sights, especially Baños de Colina!

Everything was fantastic from start to finish, can’t wait to go back.  Thanks again, Mac!"

Vicky and Michael--All-inclusive Coastal Tour from Santiago

This All-inclusive Coastal Tour included private transport and tour of the 4 closest coastal cities to Santiago: Valparaiso, Vina del Mar, Renaca and Con Con.  A wine tasting in the Casablanca Valley, known for Chile's finest white wines and light reds, such as Pinot Noir.  A seafood lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean at one of Con Con's famous seafood restaurants.  A stop for a pisco sour, Chile's national drink, on the infinity terrace at the finest hotel on the coast, The Sheraton Miramar.

Our group of 4 had 36 hours in Santiago before embarking on a cruise around Cape Horn.  I was searching for a Bike and Wine tour that would allow us to experience the famous Chilean wines from the vineyards near Santiago.  I contacted Mac and he was helpful and informative from our first contact.  Mac was flexible and willing to accommodate scheduling our bike and wine tour around our flight schedule.

Mac’s bike and wine tour was fantastic.  After a short drive into the beautiful Maipo valley we traded the vans for bikes.  We experienced 3 distinct vineyards, stopping the bikes at each one and enjoying a walk through each vineyard.  We met the vineyard owners and were educated on the history and wine produced from each vine.  At the last vineyard we enjoyed tasting wine directly from the tanks while touring the bodega where the wine is manufactured.  We were then led outside to a garden with a cheese and appetizer spread on a white tablecloth complete with unmarked bottles of Chilean wine.  It is true that strangers quickly become friends over a good glass of wine.  The vineyard owner was experimenting with different wine recipes and we had the opportunity to taste and give our opinion on his creations.  The wine was fantastic and we purchased a couple cases to share with friends back home.  We will never forget this surreal experience and we still reminisce about it often.

We finished the tour with a meal at an authentic Chilean restaurant that Mac has discovered.  Again, the experience was awesome.  After our meal, Mac returned us to our hotel. Mac was a perfect tour guide: flexible, accommodating, patient, very knowledgeable and excited to share his knowledge with us.

We were so impressed with Mac as a tour guide that we asked if he would be willing to give us a morning tour of Santiago and then drive us to the port at Valparaiso in time for our cruise departure the following day.  Mac personally guided us the following morning and gave us a “non-commercialized” tour of Santiago.  Mac educated us on what we were seeing as we drove and walked the city.  I don’t think it would be possible to see more of the city in a single morning and the impromptu tour was perfect.  On the way to Valparaiso Mac took a quick detour into the coastal town of Vina del Mar and gave us a view of the beach and sea.  In Valparaiso, we were led on a quick walking tour complete with a ride on the famous funiculars leading up to the quaint neighborhoods within the old port city.  This was unexpected but extremely appreciated.

Mac went above and beyond all weekend for us.  His guiding enabled us to experience more of Chile’s capital than we imagined.  We fell in love with Santiago and can’t wait to return.  Our time in Santiago was unforgettable and I am thrilled to recommend Mac with complete confidence.
